Antillectual
Antillectual is a melodic yet political punkrock trio from the Nijmegen area in Holland playing punk rock in the vein of Propagandhi, Strike Anywhere, Rise Against and Hot Water Music. Antillectual was formed in September 2000 and after releasing a couple of demos Antillectual released their debut record Silencing Civilization in 2005 (released by Angry Youth Records).
Silencing Civilization gets a lot of critical acclaim. It gives the band the opportunity to tour monthly form 2006 till date.
2007 brings Antillectual to new recordings and on the 21st of March the new album “Testimony” is released with a blistering release party at the Stage in Arnhem. “Testimony” is released on CD by Fond of Live (Ger), No Reason Records (IT), Rise or Rust Records (AU), Infected Records (Por) Youth Way Records (FR) and Shield Recordings (Benelux) and on vinyl by Shield Recordings (Europe) and Jump start records (USA).
“Testimony” also got great reviews which gave Antillectual the opportunity to tour even more over 2008 which resulted in playing 106 shows over 2008 in Europe but also in the USA.
2008 also was the year that the original pressing of “Silencing Civilization” got sold out and to keep it available the record needed to be repressed. We of Shield Recordings took this opportunity to not only repress the CD, but also release “Silencing Civilization” for the first time ever on good old vinyl.
The re-release has been re-mastered by Nico van Montfort (www.myspace.com/xpzsound) who produced their latest album “Testimony”. The sound quality has been raised enormously, we must add!
