Smash the Statues
Smash the Statues is a hardcore punkband from the Netherlands which started in 2003, playing hardcore punk in the vein of Good Riddance, Strike Anywhere, I-spy and Propagandhi.
In September 2003 they released their first demo, containing four raw hardcorepunk songs. The demo was well received and many shows followed in 2004. At the end of 2004 Smash the Statues entered the Tonmeisterei Studio in Oldenburg, Germany to record their first full length album. The first full length record "Against The Stream" was released by Angry Youth records in February 2006. Again the recordings where well received by the media and many shows followed as a result of their new record. Smash The Statues toured across The Netherlands, The UK, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Austria and Slovenia and played shows with Strike Anywhere, Strung Out, Against All Authority, Modern Life Is War, Leftöver Crack, Seein’ Red, The Indecision Alarm, Enemy Alliance, Belvedere and many more.
In the fall of 2008 Smash the Statues returned to the Tonmeisterei Studio's to record their new record "When Fear Is All Around Us". Together with producers Nico van Montfort and Pitter Halve Litter they recorded 14 new songs with blistering energy and tightness. Again Smash the Statues is not afraid to point out the flaws in our society and criticize the people in charge of our country and the world. "When Fear Is All Around Us" is released by Shield Recordings as a Gatefold 12 inch vinyl and as a fancy looking digipack CD.
